Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “The most significant holiday”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

● explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
● mention the advantages (1–2) of the two types of holidays;
● mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of holidays;
● express your opinion on the subject of the project – whether you would prefer to celebrate a birthday or New Year and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Hey, so I just wanted to touch base with you about the project we're working on, "The most significant holiday". I know we were planning on including some photos to illustrate the different holidays, but unfortunately, I can't send them right now due to technical issues.

So, let me describe the photos I found. The first one is of a family celebrating Christmas. It shows a husband and wife in Santa Claus hats giving their young child a gift in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and fireplace. The second photo is of a birthday celebration with five children holding a packed gift, surrounded by colourful balloons.

I think these photos are great choices because they showcase the importance of family and celebration in both Christmas and birthdays. The Christmas photo captures the magic and warmth of the holiday season, while the birthday photo represents the joy and excitement of celebrating another year of life.

One of the advantages of Christmas is the sense of togetherness and tradition that comes with it. It's a time for families to come together and create lasting memories. Birthdays, on the other hand, celebrate individuality and the uniqueness of each person.

However, one disadvantage of Christmas can be the commercialism and pressure to buy gifts, while birthdays can sometimes feel lonely for those who may not have a large support system.

As for which holiday I would prefer to celebrate, I think I would choose Christmas. I love the festive atmosphere, the traditions and the opportunity to spend time with loved ones. It just feels like a magical time of year that brings people closer together.
