…They say that Russian students can choose a foreign language to study at school. Do many students choose other languages instead of English? Why do you think they do so? Why have you chosen English?...

I’ve just finished reading a collection of Anton Chekhov’s short stories...

Write an email to Marion.

In your message:
− answer his questions;
− ask 3 questions about the Chekhov stories he has read.

Write 100–140 words.

Dear Marion,

Thank you for your email message! I'm glad to hear from you again! I hope you're doing well!

In Russia many students do choose languages other than English to study at school, such as French, German, Spanish or even Chinese. Some students may choose a language based on their personal interests or future career plans. I chose to study English because it is widely spoken around the world and is essential for communication in many fields.

You've mentioned Chekhov's short stories. Which story was your favourite? What themes or messages did you find in the collection? Did you find Chekhov's writing style easy to follow?

Anyway, I've got to go as I need to help my little brother with his homework.

Write back soon.
Best wishes,
Anna
