Пояснение:
38.1 Learning to play a musical instrument is often considered an important part of cultural and personal development, yet not everyone is eager to attend music schools. The survey conducted among Zetlanders shows the main reasons behind such reluctance.
The largest share of respondents (29%) believe that studying music does not bring fast results. This suggests that many people expect immediate progress, while in reality mastering an instrument requires patience. Another significant reason is that learning music is time-consuming (23%). This percentage is only slightly lower, which indicates that lack of free time or unwillingness to devote many hours to practice is a common obstacle. By contrast, fewer people, though still a considerable proportion, are simply not interested in music at all (19%).
If we compare practical and personal reasons, it becomes clear that external factors, such as distance from home (15%) and lack of money for a quality instrument (14%), are mentioned less frequently than issues connected with motivation and effort. This shows that many Zetlanders could potentially attend music schools if they were more determined.
One major problem with learning to play an instrument is the slow pace of visible progress, which often discourages beginners. A possible solution is to introduce short-term goals and reward systems that help students see and celebrate small achievements.
In my opinion, everyone should at least have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, because music develops creativity, patience, and emotional expression. Even if not everyone becomes a professional musician, the skills gained are valuable for life.
38.2 Cycling is often promoted as an environmentally friendly and healthy way of moving around the city. In my project “Zetland: riding a bicycle around the city” I have looked into the factors that influence Zetlanders’ decisions to cycle, and the survey results are quite revealing.
The majority of respondents (52%) pointed out safety on the roads as the key factor. This means that more than half of the population is primarily concerned about accidents and traffic conditions, which underlines the importance of infrastructure and road regulations. The second most important factor, chosen by 23%, is the availability of bicycle lanes. Interestingly, this is also directly connected with safety, since dedicated lanes reduce the risks of collisions. By comparison, only 15% of people take weather conditions into account, while aspects such as fitness (6%) and opportunities to carry bicycles on public transport (4%) appear to be of minor importance.
The data shows a clear contrast between safety-related concerns (which together account for three quarters of the answers) and personal benefits such as health or convenience. This indicates that practical issues dominate over lifestyle motivations.
One of the common problems with urban cycling is the lack of safe, continuous bicycle lanes. A possible solution is for the city authorities to invest in a well-connected network of cycling paths and introduce stricter traffic rules to protect cyclists.
In my opinion, bicycles can be a very convenient means of transport in Zetland if the city ensures safe conditions. Cycling is not only cheap and eco-friendly, but also promotes a healthier lifestyle, so it deserves strong public support.
