Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “Life without gadgets”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

● explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
● mention the advantages (1–2) of the two types of books;
● mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of books;
● express your opinion on the subject of the project – whether you would like to live without gadgets and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Hey there! So, I wanted to explain our choice of photos for the “Life without gadgets” project. The first photo shows a girl in the library holding a paper book, surrounded by shelves of books. She looks really cheerful and immersed in her reading. The second photo depicts another girl sitting on the couch at home, holding an e-book.

I think these photos perfectly illustrate the theme of the project because they show the contrast between traditional paper books and modern e-books. The girl in the library with the paper book represents a more nostalgic and traditional approach to reading, while the girl with the e-book symbolizes the convenience and technological advancements in reading.

Speaking of advantages, paper books are great because they don’t require charging, can be more engaging for some people and provide a sense of nostalgia and physical connection to the text. On the other hand, e-books are portable, can store multiple books in one device and allow for features like adjustable font size and built-in dictionaries.

As for disadvantages, paper books can be bulky to carry around, require physical space for storage and may deteriorate over time. E-books, on the other hand, can cause eye strain, may not provide the same tactile experience and are dependent on battery life.

Personally, I think living without gadgets, including e-books, would be quite challenging for me. While I do appreciate the charm of paper books, the convenience and versatility of e-books have become essential in my daily life. However, I do believe in finding a balance and enjoying the best of both worlds when it comes to reading. What do you think? Let’s discuss more when we meet next! See you soon!
