Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “Life without gadgets”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

● explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
● mention the advantages (1–2) of the two types of books;
● mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of books;
● express your opinion on the subject of the project – whether you would like to live without gadgets and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Hey! So I couldn't send the photos right now, but let me describe them to you. The first photo shows a girl sitting on the couch and reading an e-book, while the second one depicts a girl standing in a train carriage and reading a paper book.

I chose these photos because I think they perfectly illustrate the topic of our project "Life without gadgets". The first photo shows the convenience of e-books – you can carry multiple books in one device and read them wherever you are. On the other hand, the second photo highlights the simplicity and nostalgia of reading a paper book, as well as the lack of distractions that come with digital devices.

One advantage of e-books is the ease of access – you can instantly download a book and start reading without having to visit a bookstore or library. Another advantage is the ability to customize the reading experience with features like adjustable font sizes and lighting.

However, one disadvantage of e-books is the potential for eye strain and fatigue caused by staring at a screen for long periods of time. Another downside is the dependence on technology – if your device runs out of battery or malfunctions, you may not be able to access your books.

As for paper books, a major advantage is the sensory experience – the feel and smell of a physical book can enhance the reading experience. Additionally, paper books do not emit blue light, which can disrupt sleep patterns.

On the other hand, a disadvantage of paper books is the limited storage space – you need physical shelves to store your books, which can take up a lot of room. Also, paper books are not as portable as e-books, making it harder to carry multiple books with you.

Personally, I think living without gadgets, including e-books, would be a challenge for me. While I appreciate the advantages of paper books, the convenience and versatility of e-books make them indispensable in today's digital world. What do you think? Can't wait to hear from you!
