Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “Hobbies”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

● explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
● mention the advantages (1–2) of the two hobbies;
● mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two hobbies;
● express your opinion on the subject of the project – which of the hobbies presented in the pictures you’d prefer and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Hey there! So, I wanted to talk to you about the photos we found for our school project on hobbies. Even though I can't send them now, I can describe them to you. The first photo shows a boy and a girl playing the piano together, both of them smiling. The second photo depicts a family working together in the garden – the mother, father and daughter are all involved in gardening activities.

I chose these photos because they showcase two very different hobbies – playing the piano is more of a solitary activity that requires focus and concentration, while gardening is a more social and communal hobby that involves teamwork and coordination. In terms of advantages, playing the piano can help improve hand-eye coordination, memory and concentration, while gardening is a great way to relax, spend time outdoors and learn about plant life.

On the downside, playing the piano can be quite expensive, as you need to invest in a piano or keyboard, lessons and sheet music. On the other hand, gardening requires a lot of physical labour and time commitment, especially during planting and harvesting seasons.

Personally, I think I would prefer gardening as a hobby because I love being outdoors and connecting with nature. It's also a great way to bond with family members and learn new skills. However, I can see the appeal of playing the piano, as it's a beautiful art form that can bring a lot of joy and fulfilment. What do you think?
