38.1 The project aims to explore the popular film genres among teenagers in Zetland.

According to the opinion polls, fantasy and sci-fi films are the most popular among the respondents, with 42% choosing it as their favourite genre. This is followed by horror and thriller at 23%, comedy at 18%, drama and melodrama at 12% and detective films at 5%.

It is interesting to note that the more fantastical and imaginative genres like fantasy and sci-fi are the most favoured among teenagers, reflecting the trend of escapism and a desire for adventure in young audiences. On the other hand, genres like detective films and drama and melodrama, which often deal with more realistic and emotional themes, are less popular among teenagers.

However, a potential problem that can arise with watching films is the impact of excessive screen time on teenagers' mental health and well-being. To combat this, parents and educators should encourage moderation and balance in screen time, as well as promote discussions about the themes and messages portrayed in films.

In conclusion, watching movies is important as it allows individuals to explore different worlds, perspectives and emotions. It can be a source of entertainment, education and inspiration, providing a valuable means of artistic expression and storytelling in our lives. As long as it is done in moderation and with thoughtfulness, watching movies can be a enriching and enjoyable experience for teenagers and people of all ages.

38.2 The subject of my project is to explore the reasons why people should study mathematics in Zetland. As someone who believes strongly in the value of studying mathematics, the results of the opinion poll provide valuable insight into the different reasons why people feel it is essential to study this subject.

Analytical thinking was the most common reason given, with 31% of respondents highlighting this as a key benefit of studying mathematics. This is not surprising, as mathematics is a subject that requires logical reasoning and critical thinking skills. Similarly, 22% of respondents mentioned having a good career as a motivation for studying mathematics.

However, it is concerning that only 14% of respondents mentioned developing problem-solving skills as a reason to study mathematics, that is, about half the number of those who named the development of analytical thinking as the main reason for studying mathematics. Problem-solving is a crucial skill that can be applied in all aspects of life, not just in a mathematical context.

One potential problem that may arise with mastering mathematics is the perception of difficulty and lack of motivation. To overcome this challenge, incorporating real-life applications and interactive teaching methods can help students better understand the relevance of mathematics in their daily lives and inspire them to continue studying the subject.

In conclusion, studying mathematics is not just about memorizing formulas and equations – it is about developing essential skills that are valuable in all areas of life. Whether it is to improve analytical thinking, advance in a career, or simply to train the brain, studying mathematics is an investment in one's future success and well-being.
