"Отлично! Просто здорово!" раздался крик изнутри лифта. «Лифт был вызван довольно давно, — успокоил я парня. Я добавил, что с минуты на минуту будет здесь лифтер.

В данном предложении используется косвенная речь (reported speech), то есть передаются чьи-то слова без точного их цитирования (в отличие от прямой речи — direct speech).

Если сказуемое главного предложения стоит в прошедшем времени (в нашем предложении это сказуемое added), то в придаточном предложении необходимо изменить время глагола:
