Interviewer: Why do you think so many people have pets?
Student: I think people have pets because they bring joy, comfort and companionship. Pets can also help people feel less lonely and reduce stress after a long day. For many families, a pet becomes a real member of the family.
Interviewer: What pets are popular in Russia?
Student: The most popular pets in Russia are cats and dogs. Many people also keep hamsters, rabbits or parrots because they are easier to take care of. In the countryside people sometimes have horses or chickens too.
Interviewer: Do you have a pet? If yes, what is it? If no, would you like to have it?
Student: Yes, I have a cat. She is very playful and friendly, and I enjoy spending time with her. I think life feels warmer and happier when you have a pet at home.
Interviewer: How can children benefit from having a pet?
Student: Children can learn responsibility when they take care of a pet, like feeding or walking it. A pet can also teach them kindness and empathy. Besides, playing with pets is fun and helps children be more active.
Interviewer: What are some of the disadvantages of having a pet?
Student: Pets need a lot of time, care and money, which can sometimes be difficult for families. They also make travelling harder because you have to find someone to look after them. Another problem is that some people may have allergies to animals.
