"Что случилось, мама?" — спросил Джорди. Я объяснил, что когда я был в его возрасте, мои родители сфотографировали меня стоя на том же самом месте, и я испытывал некоторую ностальгию. Я добавил, что, возможно, однажды он сфотографирует здесь своего сына.

В данном предложении используется косвенная речь (reported speech), то есть передаются чьи-то слова без точного их цитирования (в отличие от прямой речи — direct speech).

Если сказуемое главного предложения стоит в прошедшем времени (в нашем предложении это сказуемое added), то в придаточном предложении необходимо изменить время глагола:
